Domaine de Tourelles “SKIN” 2023, Bekaa Valley- this leading Lebanese producer makes this unusual orange wine from 150 year-old Merweh vines, a local white grape: the pressed grapes have three months skin contact with the wine, though it’s still a fairly subtle orange wine. Brimming with delicate orange blossom, gentle grip and a touch of minerality.

Domaine des Tourelles, making impressive wines in Lebanon
At Wine Paris I caught up with Faouzi Issa of Domaine des Tourelles in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley. Tourelles are an important producer for Lebanon, and these wines are really good. Like many Lebanese producers, they are very French influenced, but they are also starting to play more on local strengths.

Hugh Johnson’s Pocket Wine Book features Vieilles Vignes Carignan as one of the top 12 wines to try in 2026!
He beautifully describes it as: "This is a longstanding favourite of mine, and I still don’t understand how something so silky, savoury, herbal and layered can be so inexpensive. The vines are over 50 years old, and old-vine Carignan has enormous character and depth. Tourelles makes wines of poise and freshness, utterly modern, fine and long-lived."
